The philosophical area most distinctively concerned with normativity, almost by definition, is ethics. Normativity is more than just a problem dealing with moral "oughts" and "ought nots." Distinguishing between two opposed positions can create a normative category. The pair is normative because it makes a distinction based upon some criterion/criteria.
